I am sheepish to say,I didn't build the coop. A man in the next town over did. He owns a saw mill and he whips these up in no time. he has a template for every piece and has stacks of each piece to build when someone places an order. He only charges $250. Great deal!

I did, however, build the run. I think that's somewhere in my photos.

Sweet! I need one of these for the chicken's summer quarters. My husband is kicking them out of our yard because he and the kids play soccer outside a lot and they are sick of the poo factor.

that is one of the best little hen houses Ive seen. Ive always love the plain ones better then the fancy ones. I am thinking of making another hen house to separate my different breeds.

Ordinances! I know they serve a purpose, and I don't want cars on blocks or washing machines on front lawns, but my neighborhood even requires rain barrels be painted tan or dark green. Should I move?

Our nearby town, Ann Arbor, Michigan, just passed an ordinance allowing folks to keep up to 5 hens (no roosters) in their backyards. Certain rules apply and you must have the permission of all property owners that abut you. The guy that got this passed was thrown out of office in the last election. We had chickens when I was a child...I hated it when they pecked me while I was stealing their children - egg gathering.
