So here we are, on vacation at the beach with family, and it's raining, raining, raining.

I spent a wet morning yesterday gathering up around 50lbs of seaweed to mulch my tomatoes at home. Tomatoes have been shown to do best in a light solution of seawater (they like the salt, not only are yields higher, but their nutrient value is higher) and the seaweed adds all sorts of trace minerals and good stuff.

Anyone else try this? The car may be a little stinky on the drive home, but the tomatoes will be very, very happy.

Jess.

That sounds like a super idea.

Yeah, but it SMELLS really bad.

Yes, the full assault of the senses. It wouldn't be gardening with out Stank.

The big composter wasn't turned in two weeks, and it was hot and wet out. When I turned it, it let out a cloud of gas that the husband smelled and gagged a good ten feet away. It's not going to be right for a couple of weeks.

On the bright side, the bed I filled with the last batch has gone insane. Can't wait to hear about the tomatoes!
